There are many things to consider when choosing the best kind of entertainment for your special event.  You should determine the ages of the audience that will be in attendance, their personalities, the goal or purpose of the event and of course what you plan to spend.  These things alone will often narrow the choices quite a bit.  For example, if you are having a corporate event and the theme is lighthearted, then perhaps a comedian or magician would work well.  If it is more serious, you might consider a performer who uses motivational messages throughout his program. Either way, make sure you get a couple of options before making any decisions.

- How much can booking a celebrity cost?

This is a tough one.  The costs can vary from $20,000 for a small time celebrity all the way to $2,000,000 for a big name celebrity such as Elton John.  Perhaps you want rock duo Hall and Oates to perform at your special event.  Your looking at an approximate fee of $150,000.  Besides the actual fee that the celebrity obtains, you also have to factor in travel, staging, lighting, and more.  A celebrities fee may only be $50,000, however once you factor in the requirements of travel, production, and all the rest the complete cost can very quickly become closer to $100,000.  Make sure you are clear about your expectations when looking to book a celebrity for your event, this way there are no surprises.  By the way, make sure you are realistic about your budget. You are not going to get Sting to perform at your event for $25,000 no matter how bad you want him and how long you have been a fan, however you can have a nice selection of smaller acts and even top local talent and hometown celebrities for that price.
